November News…

At our November meeting we were joined by Kathy Ogilve who taught us how to needle felt and make Christmas tree decorations using wool tops, a biscuit cutter and a felting needle….

It is a good idea to use a foam block to protect the table or work surface!

Once you have the basic equipment, needle felting is a craft that you can do again and again and no doubt there will be some felting going on at craft group in the future. Our thanks to Kathy for inspiring us and teaching us a new skill.

On the 26th the committee went for a little get together at Pizza Express to catch up and discuss the year past and the plans ahead for 2015….we meet every month, the week before the general meeting but this was a chance to relax in a different environment and enjoy a pizza and a G&T. It has been a great year and we have come a long way in getting up and running, so it was time to celebrate….but we don’t intend to rest on our laurels just yet!

At the end of the month we joined the Cambridge BlueBelles WI at their craft fair and three of our LadyBirds, Sophie, Mel and Helen had stalls selling handmade goodies. It was a fantastic day with wonderful hosts and amazing hand-baked refreshments. There were plenty of visitors passing through whilst doing their Christmas shopping and we have to say a big thank-you and a well done to the BlueBelles for putting on a cracking fair!

We were selling some of the LadyBirds branded items and the crochet mirror cases were all snapped up….we have a couple of people who have asked for more to be made…another job for the craft group no doubt!

Bags and mirror cases-very popular!
